Lockdown, new start, looking ahead: Ambiente 2020 which took place in February was the last international consumer goods fair to be held. After a year without any international fairs on the fair calendar, Ambiente will once again offer visitors looking for ideas, impulses or products with that certain something substantive guidance from 19 to 23 February 2021. The Talents have been an inspiring area for years. Interested designers and up-and-coming talents can now apply to take part. But also the Ethical Style Guide, the Contract Business and HoReCa Guide or the special presentation Solutions offer visitors optimal support in their search for the right products for their range. Exhibitors can apply from September.
Optimistic outlook: 90 per cent of Ambiente’s exhibition space already filled
The coronavirus lockdown is an extraordinary situation for Germany and the whole world. The need for personal encounters and face-to-face communication is growing. This is what makes looking into the future so important: 90 percent of the exhibition space of Ambiente is already filled. From 19 to 23 February 2021, it will showcase all major themes of the entire consumer goods portfolio in its dining, living and giving areas.
High satisfaction and positive response: Successful launch for HoReCa hall
For the first time, Ambiente has opened a dedicated hall for the hotel, restaurant and catering industry, increasing this year its total number of HoReCa exhibitors to around 650. In the show’s new hall 6.0, brands from 23 nations presented their latest collections and offered insights into the global hospitality industry. It’s become quite a tradition by now: Ambiente exhibitors celebrating corporate anniversaries with the Ambiente team at the world’s largest consumer goods trade fair. Quite a few exhibitors are enjoying anniversaries this year, including Fissler, Gilde Handwerk and Spode Portmeirion.
Ambiente 2020 impacted by coronavirus and Ciara
Trends, new products and international business – these are traditionally at the focus of Ambiente in Frankfurt, which took place from 7 to 11 February 2020. The world’s largest consumer goods trade fair had grown to 4,635 exhibitors  from 93 countries , covering 310,240 gross sqm . Ambiente was the first leading trade fair to be affected by the impact of the coronavirus on travelling. Another clearly noticeable factor was Storm Ciara. Business in the halls, however, did not suffer as much as expected, and, in all, large numbers of orders were placed throughout the trends and new products platform. Nevertheless, exhibitors were disappointed with the strong sense of uncertainty among visitors and therefore the absence of quite a few retail channels. Yet those who did travel to Frankfurt benefited from an outstanding ordering environment.

Ambiente 2020: hospitality growth market attracting more exhibitors to Frankfurt
After a year of economic slowdown, global trade conflicts and the impact of the recent coronavirus outbreak, no major changes are expected in Germany’s economy in 2020. Nevertheless, private consumption is at such a high level that there are almost no signs of a deteriorating consumer mood right now. These are good conditions for a successful Ambiente in Frankfurt, whether it’s ethical purchases, contract furnishing or trendy shopping.
