Dreaming Starry Night

Dreaming Starry Night

Description

Dreaming Starry Night is the crowning achievement of a grand journey spanning more than twenty years, driven by a passion for art, a love for beauty, and a dedication to quality. The first Visconti pens dedicated to Vincent Van Gogh date back to 2001, and since then, we have never stopped celebrating the life and works of the great Dutch painter, along with the infinite beauty that surrounds us.

The design of the collection is inspired by Van Gogh's famous impasto brushstrokes which, through the application of thick layers of oil paint, gave his masterpieces their characteristic vibrant effect. To recreate this feeling, the barrel and cap of the Dreaming Starry Night pen are crafted using the ancient sculptural technique of lost-wax silver casting. This way, by touching the pen, one can feel the ridges and swirls that characterize Van Gogh's works. On this silver micro-cast base, an enamel layer is applied, recreating the most famous work of the Dutch painter: The Starry Night. Each pen is meticulously hand-enameled by master artisans to pay homage to Van Gogh’s pictorial mastery.

Even the smallest details of the Dreaming Starry Night are designed to celebrate art. In fact, the clip is a micro-cast in yellow gold-plated silver, representing a paintbrush, the painter’s primary tool. The central ring features the artist's signature, engraved and highlighted with a blue enamel layer that elegantly contrasts with the yellow gold-plated metalwork of the pen.

The fountain pen version features the iconic Visconti Power Filler Double Reservoir filling system and an 18kt yellow gold nib.

The pen is complemented by a special stand reminiscent of the world of painting, designed as a precious frame resting on its easel. The canvas also features Vincent Van Gogh’s golden signature and a plaque bearing the Visconti logo and the name of the collection. In this way, the Dreaming Starry Night can be displayed at the center of the canvas— the most fitting context for a true work of art.

Homo Sapiens Carbon Moiré

The Homo Sapiens Carbon Moiré is the result of years of complex experimentation, aimed at creating a collection that combines cutting-edge techniques with an inimitable aesthetic. The use of unique materials has been the distinctive feature of the Homo Sapiens family since the first implementation of volcanic lava in the iconic Homo Sapiens Lava Bronze. Inspired by this initial urge, our designers embarked on an exhaustive search for advanced materials, particularly drawing inspiration from the craftsmanship of the most prestigious Italian supercars and hypercars.
After extensive research and experimentation, we focused on the implementation of forged carbon: a composite material of recent conception, made by combining carbon fiber fragments and resin. This characteristic gives the barrel an organic appearance, with the fibers taking on an irregular and dynamic pattern. However, it is the meticulous process of amalgamating gold leaf within the composite that makes this material aesthetically unparalleled. The golden hue creates unique reflections: the material appears alive, three-dimensional, almost holographic, much like the refined moiré fabrics that lend the collection its name. Enthralled by this play of light, we chose to leave the material exposed without additional surface coatings. This way, when running your fingers over the pen’s surface, you can feel the succession of carbon fibers with their subtle ridges and depressions, resulting in a pleasantly porous and irregular texture.

The use of forged carbon gives the pen its characteristic lightness. To emphasize this strength, all metal components are made of grade 5 titanium, a special alloy that is twice as light as brass or steel. This alloy undergoes a controlled natural oxidation treatment, allowing our designers to match the color of the gold leaf present in the resin by harnessing the chemical properties of titanium without using paint. The natural titanium color is visible on the Visconti clip, thanks to a delicate laser engraving that removes the oxidation, revealing the titanium beneath and creating a refined two-tone effect.

To protect the metal components, a very thin layer of transparent nano-ceramic coating is applied, which stabilizes the color over time and preserves the titanium from potential micro-scratches.

The fountain pen version of the Homo Sapiens Carbon Moiré is equipped with our iconic Power Filler Double Reservoir system – a remarkable innovation compared to the traditional Power Filler that characterizes the historic Homo Sapiens collections. To highlight the introduction of the double reservoir, the central ring features a section in clear acrylic resin, allowing the ink level to be seen even when the pen is closed.

The cap is equipped with an improved magnetic closure system, ensuring an even more secure and solid seal. Completing the fountain pen is our 18kt yellow gold Visconti nib. The edition is limited to 226 pieces, in tribute to the atomic numbers of the key chemical elements that give the pen its extraordinary lightness: carbon (6) and titanium (22).
