As part of the Japanese government’s hospitality at the G7 Osaka-Sakai Trade Ministers’ Meeting held in Osaka and Sakai on October 28-29, 2023, our shitatari was adopted as a gift for the ministers of the participating countries.
Since the meeting was held in Osaka and Sakai this time, the inscription on the back of the sake cup read “Made in Osaka Japan” to show our commitment to manufacturing in Osaka.

We also wrapped the sake cup in a newly created furoshiki cloth and handed it out.

We also printed “Made in Osaka Japan,” which we value, under the brand logo on the wrapping cloth.

We also created a story and concept sheet in English and enclosed it with the package.

There is no other sake cup in the world that is made up of convex and concave parts that fit together like this.

We focused on the thinness of the rim in order to achieve the ultimate way of drinking sake. After repeated trial and error, we arrived at a thickness of 0.9 mm.

To achieve all of this, Nakagawa Precision's long-cultivated thin-wall lathe processing technology, which shaves metal into a round shape and thins it, was essential for completion.

1. A sake vessel meticulously crafted by carefully shaving stainless steel, much like the careful polishing of rice grains in sake brewing.
This product was completed by meticulously shaving the difficult-to-machine stainless steel using Nakagawa Precision Machinery Work's thin-wall machining technology. This process resembles the careful polishing of rice grains in sake brewing. When sake is poured into the cup, it reflects and sparkles, making the sake's transparency stand out even more.

2. The form captures the beautiful moment when droplets fall during sake brewing (tobin-tori).
The true pleasure of this product lies in imagining the moment freshly fermented sake drips, allowing you to savor sake more deeply. You can pour sake until it overflows from the cup onto the saucer, as is often done with masu cups. The cup and saucer are detachable. Lifting the cup section recreates the actual dripping of sake. This ease of separation is itself a hidden feat, underpinned by precision machining technology.
