About us

Capdeco is a family-owned business located in Thiers, the historic capital of French cutlery. Founded in 1963 by Camille Froment, the grandfather of Edouard Froment, the company began under the name Établissements Froment, specializing in cutlery subcontracting. Camille Froment was a passionate craftsman who laid the foundation for a legacy of expertise passed down through generations.

In 2002, Philippe Froment, Camille’s son and Edouard’s father, founded Capdeco. The company shifted focus to producing high-end tableware, blending traditional craftsmanship with innovation. In 2014, Edouard Froment, the current head of the company, joined the family business, continuing the legacy of his forebears while infusing new energy into the company.

A Family Business at the Forefront of Craftsmanship

With more than 60 years of experience, Capdeco is renowned for its unique craftsmanship in manufacturing luxury tableware, handcrafted in its Thiers workshop. The company combines noble materials such as olive wood, ebony, and boxwood, alongside acrylic resin, chosen for both its beauty and durability.

Each Capdeco product is the result of meticulous handcrafting. The cutlery is fully assembled by hand, ensuring a flawless finish and unparalleled quality. This artisanal approach creates unique pieces that combine aesthetic appeal, ergonomics, and longevity, elevating the dining experience.

Transmission of a Family Craftsmanship

Since the founding of Établissements Froment in 1963, the company has always been guided by values of quality and respect for the craft. These values have been passed down from generation to generation, first through Camille Froment, then his son Philippe Froment, and now by Edouard Froment.

Under Philippe Froment’s leadership, Capdeco shifted its focus to luxury tableware, quickly establishing itself as a key player in the market. With Edouard Froment joining the company in 2014, the brand has successfully blended traditional cutlery techniques with a modern, innovative approach, while remaining true to the family legacy.

Craftsmanship at the Heart of the Company

What sets Capdeco apart is its commitment to 100% handcrafted production. Every piece of cutlery is assembled by hand in the Thiers workshop, ensuring exceptional quality and careful attention to detail. This handmade process not only allows for the personalization of each item but also preserves techniques that have been passed down through generations.

Capdeco is also highly mindful of its environmental impact. The company selects sustainable materials and strives to reduce its ecological footprint, working with local suppliers and employing environmentally responsible production methods.

Prestigious Products for the Art of the Table

Capdeco’s products are designed for both high-end restaurants and private collectors seeking exceptional cutlery. The brand has built a solid reputation for producing luxury tableware that combines design and functionality.

Capdeco offers a wide range of products, including cutlery with handles made from acrylic resin or noble woods such as boxwood, olive wood, and ebony. Each material is chosen for its durability, beauty, and comfort. The Thiers workshop serves as a true center of expertise where craftsmanship and innovation converge to create top-quality products.

Capdeco on the International Stage

Capdeco is not limited to the local market and has made a name for itself internationally. Thanks to the reputation of its craftsmanship and the beauty of its products, the company exports its cutlery worldwide. It caters to the growing demand for refined and unique products in both restaurants of distinction and private collections.

While maintaining its strong roots in Thiers, the company has expanded its presence abroad, helping to showcase French craftsmanship globally.

An Ethical and Responsible Company

Capdeco also pays special attention to its environmental impact. By selecting sustainable materials and prioritizing environmentally responsible production methods, the company is committed to eco-friendly practices. This respect for the environment goes hand in hand with its continuous efforts to deliver superior-quality products that meet the demands of today’s environmentally conscious consumers.

Capdeco’s Future: Continuing the Family Legacy

Capdeco continues to evolve, combining traditional cutlery craftsmanship with modern innovations that meet the expectations of contemporary consumers. Now led by Edouard Froment, the third generation is dedicated to preserving the family legacy while striving to grow the brand internationally.

Capdeco is a model of a family business that has successfully adapted to changing times while staying true to its roots. With rare craftsmanship and a passion for artistry, the company continues to create exceptional products that reflect quality and commitment at every stage of their production.

Capdeco is not just a brand of tableware; it is a family story, a rare craftsmanship, and a passion for the art of living.
