ReHab Furnitures by Econor – Where Industrial Foam Meets Playful Spaces

ECONOR Design Tervezö Kft.

Description

Imagine a space that moves with the people in it. A bench that children drag from corner to corner, a seat that friends gather around, a playful form that sparks conversation and laughter. This is the world of Econor Design reHab collection, a furniture collection that transforms recycled hard PUR foam—the same material that insulates sandwich panels and refrigerators—into colorful, durable, and fully adaptable furniture for communal spaces.

The story begins in industry: after serving its purpose as insulation, hard PUR foam would normally end up as waste. But Econor saw an opportunity. Through a patented process developed in Hungary, the foam is recycled into solid blocks. These blocks, once destined for disposal, are cut, shaped, and transformed into furniture that is strong, functional, and sustainable. Every reHab piece carries the legacy of its industrial past while becoming something entirely new—a bridge between technology, design, and human experience.

ReHab collection is designed for interaction. Indoors, the foam is upholstered for comfort and style; outdoors, it is coated with a weather-resistant, rubberized layer that protects against sun, rain, and frost. Unlike conventional molded furniture, ReHab pieces can be resized, moved, or rearranged in seconds, adapting instantly to the needs of the space.

Sustainability is not just a feature—it is at the heart of reHab collection. Each piece is made from 100% recycled materials, and after years of use, it can be recycled again, re-entering the circular economy. By turning industrial by-products into valuable objects, reHab shows that design can be playful, responsible, and innovative at the same time.

The collection thrives in lively communal environments. Children climb, slide, and reposition the pieces. Adults gather, chat, and relax. Every corner becomes a stage for social interaction, learning, and play. The rounded, organic forms invite touch and engagement, making furniture an active part of the experience rather than a static object.

At Econor Design, experimentation is key. The reHab collection is an exploration of shapes, colors, and materials. Every piece is unique, customizable in size and color using RAL codes, reflecting the dynamic nature of the spaces it inhabits. The collection embodies a philosophy where design is alive, evolving, and responsive to its surroundings.

ReHab is more than furniture collection —it is a living, breathing element of community spaces, where industrial history, sustainable design, and human interaction converge. From schools to offices, public squares to co-working hubs, ReHab brings energy, color, and adaptability wherever it goes.

Wave bench – A Circular, Sculpted Rethink of Seating

Wave bench – A Circular, Sculpted Rethink of Seating

Wave bench is an experiment in what circular furniture can look and feel like. Instead of treating recycled materials as hidden structural matter, the project builds its identity around them: a 100% recycled rigid PUR foam core, recycled comfort foam, and an upholstery fabric made from repurposed PET bottles. Every layer supports a closed-loop design ambition—long-lasting, repairable, and fully recyclable after use.

Formally, Wave challenges the idea that a seat must be flat. Its subtly shifting topography—higher here, lower there—creates a comfortable resting surface for users of different ages and body types. This gentle wave-like motion is what gives the bench its name and its character: soft in appearance, stable in function.

The piece is modular and easily scalable. Thanks to precision foam-cutting technology, Wave can be produced in custom widths and lengths, allowing it to form linear arrangements, curved compositions, or playful clusters in both indoor and outdoor environments. Its shape invites interaction, its rhythm encourages flow.

Wave began as an outdoor prototype driven by material durability tests, but quickly evolved into a broader family of indoor and outdoor elements—all sharing the same sculptural geometry and circular material palette. Accessories and connector pieces are currently in development to further expand its lounge-space functionality.

Wave is not just a bench. It is a proposal for how recycled materials can lead to new geometries, new tactile qualities, and a new visual language for sustainable furniture.

SnugSpot armchair: Sustainable Comfort Reimagined

SnugSpot armchair: Sustainable Comfort Reimagined

Introducing SnugSpot, a unique lounge chair and footstool set designed for ultimate comfort and sustainability. Every element of this piece has been crafted exclusively from recycled materials, making it a statement not just in design, but in responsible living. At the heart of the SnugSpot lies a high-quality recycled PUR foam, a material developed through a Hungarian-patented recycling process. This innovative technique allows us to cut the foam precisely to shape and upholster it, creating a chair that is both ergonomically supportive and visually striking.

The SnugSpot’s design is inspired by nature, with organic curves that echo the smooth forms of polished river stones. The ergonomic structure ensures proper support for both spine and legs, while the footstool complements the chair’s silhouette, creating a cohesive and inviting set. The chair’s lines are soft yet confident, designed to welcome you into a moment of relaxation while making a bold design statement.

Beyond form and function, the SnugSpot embodies Econor Design’s commitment to circular design principles. Each layer of the chair, from the recycled foam core to the upholstery, contributes to a closed-loop approach: long-lasting, repairable, and fully recyclable at the end of its life. The project also explores the potential of fully custom fabrics, giving the set a unique identity where the textile itself can be an original artwork.

While the SnugSpot is a substantial piece and will not be on display at the booth, visitors can request more information and speak directly with the designer about its features, production, and sustainable philosophy.

Discover a piece where innovation meets comfort, and sustainability meets design — the SnugSpot is more than a chair; it’s a vision for a future where furniture is both beautiful and responsible.
