About Wrens

The wren’s scientific name, Troglodytes, comes from Ancient Greek and roughly translates to cave dweller—an inaccurate description of this ground-loving bird. This restless, petite brown bird scuttles around in bushes, disappearing into holes in the undergrowth. They have a long, pointed beak to pick out insects from cracks in walls and bark. Their size and colour make them inconspicuous, but their loud, vibrating song announces their presence, especially at dawn.

About the Eurasian Woodcock

The Eurasian woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) was first described taxonomically in 1758 in Systema Naturae by Carl von Linné. It is a long-billed, round, and robust migratory bird with large eyes set far back on its head and a wingspan of 56–60 cm. Woodcocks have a thriving global population and breed primarily in Russia and Fennoscandia. During courtship, the male woodcock flies along a specific route at dusk, known as “roding”. This circuit takes about 12 minutes and has been utilised in hunting.

Key Cabinet Magpie

Key Cabinet Magpie

Keep your keys organised with a nature-inspired key cabinet

This cherry wood cabinet has a nature-inspired design with some charming details. Instead of a handle, the door has a little hole through which a curious chip-carved figure admires the shiny keys.
The cabinet has a traditional linseed oil finish that complements the brass on the hinges. Over time, the cherry wood matures, changing from a light tone to a warm reddish hue. The grain has beautiful variations, with darker accents formed by resin pockets. Additionally, the bird is hand-painted using water-based paint.

Features:

  • Magnets keep the cabinet securely closed and ensure the door opens and closes smoothly.
  • A threshold inside the cabinet prevents anything from falling out.
  • Seven pegs inside the cabinet neatly organise your keys into two rows.
  • Cherry wood – the warm reddish tone boasts beautiful variations in the grain, and the colour matures with time.

About Magpies

Magpie (Pica pica) couples stay together for life. They start collecting materials for the new nest as early as winter, picking twigs off the ground or breaking them off trees. They often reuse an old nest, simply relining it with fresh materials.
Magpies are omnivores, eating whatever they encounter, such as waste, eggs, hatchings, and even small adult ducks.

About Great Spotted Woodpeckers

The great spotted woodpecker is a medium-sized, black-and-white bird with a red patch on the lower belly. Its bouncy flight and distinct colours make it easy to spot.
This little bird spends most of its time snug against tree trunks—avoiding prying eyes. They are common in woodlands and parks, but they will also visit bird feeders. You can hear their distinct drumming display echoing through the woods in spring.
