Our solutions are used in commercial, industrial and residential applications.
‘We recognise environmental issues as a corporate priority’
Francesco Nalini, CAREL Group CEO
The company’s claim, “driven by the future”, perfectly sums up the CAREL model, representing the starting point and the final goal that together encompass the process of designing, manufacturing and marketing our products and systems. Indeed, CAREL’s products are born from the hope that a better future for the planet and its people is possible. It is with this awareness that CAREL intends to follow a path to achieve, day after day, concrete and measurable sustainability objectives, for the present and future generations.
An innovative consulting and technological partner, CAREL anticipates market demands, proposing energy-efficient solutions with guaranteed high performance.
Continuous improvement is our modus operandi, the method that allows us to create a standard without being constrained by it and then gradually succeeding in surpassing it to define an even higher-level standard.
Research, innovation and technology are the keys to our success: for more than fifty years, the customer’s needs have been at the centre of the elements we develop to ensure functional and aesthetic differentiation, all with a sustainable approach.
Our Group’s strength lies in the integration between the different areas; our overall vision, experience and transversal competencies mean we can exceed the boundaries of individual products and represent a single partner that can identify integrated application solutions.
Innovation as a business model
Research & Development are at the heart of our commitment. Every year the 4% of consolidated revenues is allocated to Research & Development, in order to provide cutting-edge solutions that anticipate customer needs. Out of more than 2400 employees, around 13% work in Research & Development. CAREL also has a number of laboratories devoted to thermodynamics and humidification, true areas of excellence in their reference sectors.
Most of our employees are aged between 30 and 50, with an average age of 37.7 for men and 34.7 for women.
Our commitment to continuous training across all company areas to ensure development of our personnel, both in terms of technical skills and soft skills, is also significant.
Carel Culture Code
CAREL has introduced what is a true cultural manifesto, to be applied at all levels across the Group and involving all roles at the company, based on five main pillars: Be Open, Experiment, Care, Think Customer First and Make the Difference.
Values to be reflected in all of the company’s employees, who are committed to achieving them through their work.
Endless reliability
Our responsibility to our customers far exceeds the revenues we generate. Indeed, the products we make are components that account for approximately 2 to 10% of the value of our customers’ finished products, depending on the application.
As these elements are hard to replace, to guarantee the supply of our components even in extremely difficult situations, we have adopted a disaster recovery system that sees most of our products manufactured in at least 2 different sites.
The taste of natural growth
Founded in 1973, in 2023 CAREL posted consolidated revenues of 650 million euros (+19.3% higher than 2022). CAREL can rely on an extensive and well-structured sales and customer support network. The Group comprises 47 subsidiaries and runs 15 production plants across the entire world. Together with these are partners and distributors in a further 75 countries.

Efficiency and sustainability in heat generation
Heat pumps are a key solution for the decarbonisation of buildings, reducing CO₂ emissions due to their high energy efficiency. CAREL offers a complete ecosystem of technologies for air/water and water/water heat pumps, including outdoor, indoor and all-in-one units. Through the addition of inverters, variable-speed compressors and electronic expansion valves, these units can adapt their operation dynamically based on actual conditions, optimising energy consumption and performance.
The c.pCO sistema programmable controllers have the task of managing the units, guaranteeing maximum flexibility and integration between system components. As further support, CAREL’s advanced software ensures optimised management of the refrigeration cycle, with upgraded and improved algorithms such as defrost management, low-load compressor operation, and revised alarm mapping. This software is either ready-to-use or can be easily customised using existing function blocks. The products available are A3 ready and ATEX-certified, designed to ensure safety and faster unit certification in applications where flammable refrigerants such as propane are used. Finally, the new Stone Virtual Loop tool can be used to simulate and test the thermodynamic behaviour of units while they are still under development, improving design and reducing validation times in the field.

Integrated solutions for smart and sustainable building management
Energy efficiency and smart building management are now at the heart of strategies aimed at reducing consumption and environmental impact. At ISH 2025, the focus will be on solutions to improve indoor air quality and the integration of digital platforms capable of optimizing automation, maintenance, and operational efficiency.
In this context, CAREL’s combined offering, enriched by Kiona — a Group company exhibiting at the CAREL stand for the first time — introduces innovative tools that ensure maximum flexibility and optimal performance for both commercial and residential buildings. Kiona’s approach to energy management in residential and commercial buildings is centralized and scalable. Its software-as-a-service platforms leverage self-learning artificial intelligence to optimize automation and reporting, delivering advanced control and reduced consumption.
Energy efficiency in residential buildings
The integration of Edge software into all residential units optimizes energy consumption while maintaining stable indoor conditions. Advanced analytical tools, such as temperature graphs and 3D visualizations, provide a detailed overview of building performance. In addition, the Web Port platform offers full control over systems, alarms, and energy consumption, with the option to connect and monitor photovoltaic systems and lighting.
Complete control in commercial buildings
For the commercial sector, the Web Port and Energinet platforms enable efficient management of all systems, featuring an intuitive interface and advanced reports for consumption monitoring. Centralized and secure access makes it easy to manage multiple buildings, ensuring complete control and compliance with environmental regulations.
Air quality and energy recovery
In commercial buildings, ensuring a healthy indoor environment with minimal energy impact requires advanced ventilation systems and efficient energy recovery solutions. CAREL offers rotary heat exchangers for both sensible and latent heat recovery, specifically designed to prevent bacterial growth or the formation of unpleasant odors.
The integration of reversible heat pumps with inverters and electronic expansion valves allows for efficient operation even at partial loads. For precise environmental control, CAREL sensors monitor temperature, humidity, and CO₂ levels in real time, while humidification systems regulate relative humidity to ensure occupant well-being. Airflow management dampers further enhance the overall system efficiency; their frames feature technological solutions designed to meet all space and airflow requirements.
