In the Mirror is the first book to honor Chidy Wayne, a Barcelona-based, Spanish-Guinean imagemaker, whose practice spans painting, sculpture, illustration and music. Likewise, it is the very first book from the Creative Voyage imprint. At its heart, In the Mirror is a collaboration between artist and publisher that culminates in a celebration of the new, fine-arts focused chapter of Wayne’s creative career. Photographs of Wayne’s work and world pair with texts from esteemed members of his community—the artist Donald “Drawbertson” Robertson, his gallerist Marie de Brouwer and the writer and activist Noor Ammar Lamarty—and an in-depth conversation with the Creative Voyage team.

The book features richly illustrated dispatches from visits to Japanese landscapes, architecture and cultural sites, shedding light on the influence Japanese traditions have had on the studio’s contemporary projects, such as the Äng restaurant in Sweden or Heatherhill Beach House in Denmark.

Juxtaposing images from Japan with Norm Architects’ work, the book highlights the centuries-old connections between the distinct design cultures, emphasizing mutual respect and shared philosophies. Commentary from expert collaborators in both regions provides in-depth understanding into key design principles. Andy Warhol is arguably one of the most widely known and discussed artists of the twentieth century. While his depictions of consumer products and celebrities led him to become household famous, there is a red thread throughout his career, starting even in the late forties until his untimely death in 1987. In the eighties Warhol was continuously searching to visualize an ideal of beauty, male beauty, finding form and creating lasting images of what he desired.
