East End Press specialises in handcrafted, high-quality printed decorations, gifts, and homeware. Designed in Glasgow and handmade in India, our products reflect our dedication to craftsmanship and ethical production practices.
Our print and design studio is based in Bridgeton, in the east end of Glasgow, Scotland, where we create colourful, handmade paper products which are always made from entirely recycled paper and FSC certified wood. Our products are all silk screen printed by hand, creating a luscious, rich look and feel. The brightness of colour and the slight misregistration of print is why we love screen-printing as a process, and what gives our products their unique aesthetic.
The business started in 2015 by designer and printmaker Ellie Hodesdon, with everything printed, made, and packed in Glasgow. A few years later, the garland production line had massively outgrown the little screen printing and laser cutting set up Ellie had created in Scotland. The natural place to look to for manufacturing was Jaipur, the home of printmaking, so in Ellie travelled to India in search of printmakers who could create our products 2018.
She found a family who have now become great friends, and they still create everything that East End Press makes. Every manufacturer within the chain we work with are fair-trade; and registered with and independently audited by SEDEX, an international organisation ensuring ethical and responsible supply chains.
We aim to make beautiful, sustainable, fun homeware, stationery and decorations that add something interesting and colourful to your home. Our designs are inspired by children’s book illustrations, folk art, anatomical drawings, food packaging...just about anything!
