Asix is a family-owned company that makes home textiles, fashion accessories, and lifestyle products. Afsana Asif founded it in 2013 intending to promote Bangladeshi culture on a global scale. She started the business with only 2 artisans and is proud to have over 100 local full & part-time artisans working with her now.
Asix specializes in co-creation and using sustainable resources to create products with designs that have been passed down through generations in the indigenous community. Our raw materials include jute, palm fiber, mela leaf, maize husk, natural straws and others.
Asix is a sourcing gateway to Bangladesh, providing a diverse range of materials and techniques. Our production team consists of 95% female workers and artisans, usually from marginal areas. Asix makes its products from 5 production hubs located in Satkhira, Naogaon, Shatkania, Bandarban, and Bogra. In these hubs, female artisans make products such as macrame, braids, jute thread processing, natural dyeing, embroidery, etc. Some semi-finished products are brought to units located in Dhaka where they are further reworked. Engaging these women artisans at different layers of the production process creates an economic opportunity for additional sources of income that ultimately contribute to improving their state of living. Using these natural fibers, Asix mainly produces table mats, types of baskets, dining accessories, bags, etc.
Asix has a presence both in the international and local markets. Its target export market includes wholesalers and retailers who are interested in handmade, eco-friendly products. 85% of its sales are derived from loyal international customers. Asix has previously worked with international buyers from Japan, Spain, Canada, and France. It connects with its buyers by attending international fairs
