3D printing – one of the key future technologies – increases flexibility and efficiency in companies.

Additive manufacturing is one of the key technologies in modern production that is increasing the flexibility and efficiency of many industrial companies. This is impressively reflected in current statistics and forecasts.

In 2021 alone, the global 3D printing industry generated EUR 8.33 billion. By 2025, this value is expected to increase to EUR 19 billion. This corresponds to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.2 % from 2021 to 2025.

Berlin has recognised the potential of these innovative manufacturing methods. In the capital region, additive manufacturing projects have been an integral part of the Master Plan for Industry for some time and are supported accordingly. The region is home to an ideal, well-functioning value chain covering all aspects of additive manufacturing from R&D and software and printer producers to material suppliers and global networks for professional 3-D printing.

AMBER - Additive Manufacturing Berlin Brandenburg

With AMBER, an innovation network and a new regional umbrella brand are being created on behalf of the Berlin Senate with significant participation by Berlin Partner. The aim is to create a platform for players from the fields of business and science to tap regionally available competencies as well as synergies. Berlin is thus becoming a showroom as well as a testing ground for new types of production technologies, for innovative value networks and is a catalyst for the rapid transfer of research results into sustainable, internationally competitive innovations.

IAM Hub Berlin

The establishment of a hub for additive manufacturing methods in Marienpark has been an important milestone. In addition to co-working spaces for innovative 3D printing companies and scientific institutes, the Industrial Additive Manufacturing Hub Berlin (IAM Hub) offers a Demo Center as a testing and experimentation ground for novel 3D printing technologies.

Additive Manufacturing Forum

The annual Additive Manufacturing Forum sponsored by Berlin Partner draws an increasing number of participants to Berlin each year and is becoming one of the most important international gatherings of the 3-D printing industry. The AM Medical Days have also been taking place since 2021, another major format with a focus on additive manufacturing in the medical sector.
